About Me

Hey!  I’m Tia, a midwestern girl and proud badger studying Life Sciences Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  More than anything I enjoy spending time outside – I’m the type of person who doesn’t wash their clothes after a campfire because it’s one of my favorite smells.  I also love my family (obviously), football (Packer fan for life), food, anything to do with large bodies of water, and of course baby animals 🙂

Anyway, over the past four years that I’ve been an undergrad I’ve come to realize a few things about myself.  First and foremost, I love science.   But I’m never going to be a scientist and I’m okay with that.  Second, I love design.  But guess what, I’m never going to be a graphic designer either ‘cause I’m about to graduate and ain’t nobody got time for that.  However, a recent epiphany brought attention to the fact that my educational background has actually provided me with a valuable combination of the two.  Sweet, right?  That’s why I created this blog.  My knowledge and understanding of the visual brain has provided me with a unique perspective of design and I’d like to share that with you.

Luckily for us, most of the tools needed to design effectively already exist within ourselves—we just have to be aware of them, and that’s where this blog comes in.  I’d like to take the cool scientific information about the brain and blend it with design.  This idea stems from the term “neuromarketing”.  Wikipedia defines neuromarketing as a new field of marketing research that studies consumer responses to marketing stimuli to learn why consumers make the decisions they do, and what part of the brain is telling them to do it.  

So here’s the breakdown of this blog.  Who should read Organic Design?  Anyone who is interested can!  But for the most part, language and content will be geared toward design, marketing and advertising professionals.  What kind of content will you find here?  Scientific information about the brain and how it can be applied to marketing strategy/techniques and design.  And the most important question you’re probably asking yourself- WHY read this blog???  Well, here’s my theory: incorporating such naturally effective elements in your work can only strengthen it, right?  So the real question is, why not!?  You’ve got nothing to lose and besides, gleaning information from the brain sounds pretty foolproof to me!


Now that you have an idea for who I am and what I’ll be talking about, feel free to start reading!  I encourage you to take what you learn from this blog and apply it to your designs, marketing strategy, etc.  You might be surprised at how naturally you start seeing results 😉

    Its so awesome to read about you and your interest. “Neuromarketing” is the key. I mostly fascinated by dreams who take on life to make their dreams come true.
