Alright so I’m on a kick with the before and after re-designs tonight. Here is a logo that I designed at the beginning of the semester:
And here is the new and improved design with three other color options:
While I do like the first one, there was nothing that spectacular about it. There was no contrast in font so it didn’t really ‘pop’ except for maybe the simplified version of an orange, which – I designed to look very basic on purpose to go along with the whole ‘PLAIN’ theme. Nutrition and staying fit is VERY complex in some ways, take it from the failed Dietetics major over here. So I thought – if this logo is for a health/fitness/nutrition focused business, why not try and give off an impression that will make customers feel at ease about all of the self discipline and effort it’s actually going to take them be nutritious and commit to being healthy and fit?
I also used a sans-serif font because that is more ‘plain’ feeling to me in retrospect vs. the font (Whackadoo) that was used in the earlier logo. I integrated the font into the actual fruit symbol itself, because that gives the business to drop the word NUTRITION at the bottom of the logo if they so desire – and I thought that would be a neat little tag line – ‘plain good’. Lastly, I chose to type NUTRITION in all caps and use a bold version of the same font so there would be some contrast between the two. I added different colors so the business could change it up, or pick one, or whatever makes them happy. I like the idea of using different colors to mix it up a bit every now and then. Plus nutrition encompasses lots of healthy things, not just oranges 🙂
